"I
just wanted to write a thank you to Dan for his excellent work mastering
a record I mixed in late 99, J-200 "The Dark". I finally got
a full retail version (I like to check out the art while I listen, so
I wait for the final version) and got the chance to listen on a system
I actually trust... and I couldn't find a single thing I would change,
mastering-wise. Actually, there's not much I would change about the
record at all, which is probably even greater praise for your mastering!
"I've had stuff mastered in Chicago, NY, LA, Nashville and everywhere
in between (and tried to do it myself, when the need arises), and I
really feel this is as true to the mix as I could possibly ask, while
really making it feel finished, clear, balanced and just plain right.
I was very pleased that you weren't overly aggressive in tonality or
compression, which is so common these days. Your skills are worth every
penny, and I definitely feel knowing that your skills are available
here in town will push me to improve my own work, as I know I have found
a mastering engineer I can trust to understand what is and isn't needed
to finish the job.
"Thanks again, and I will try to swing folks your way."

"Thanks
for hosting the EARS meeting last night, what a fabulous studio.
It's nice to know Chicago hosts a world class mastering studio, with
really nice down to earth people to run it. I wish you more work
than you can keep up with, health and happiness. I will certainly
pass on referrals for mastering your way."

"I
am sending this letter to let you know what a great mastering company
you are...
"Starting from the initial telephone contact and throughout the
entire actual mastering process, your experience and technical capacity
combined with astonishing professional customer service and 'follow
through' are the best.
"When people ask me what I think of Colossal Mastering, I tell
them that I only have three words to say... "Damn, they're good!"
and you can quote me on that."
